Looking for Form explores the nightly ritual of comforting my child by rubbing her back.

The image is a topographical view of the underside of the blanket, whereby the form of the child in repose is reconstructed and anthropically measured by the mother’s hand.

The blanket is the medium that is reimagined as both the recording of form and the agent of comfort activated by a mother’s hands.  It is the threshold where both mother and child have equal presence.

Exhibited in the juried “Painting at Night” at Artlink Contemporary Art Gallery, Fort Worth, Indiana.
